Bunad, pig and barn party at Lillerud gård

I knew Jenny and Jørgen before I started with wedding photography. Back then I photographed their dogs. It's nice when jobs cross paths like that: that someone you've photographed in a completely different context comes back years later and asks to be photographed on one of the most important days of their life.

They had chosen Lillerud gård because the animals roam free there. It's an unusual reason to choose a wedding venue, but it makes sense once you know Jenny and Jørgen. During the ceremony, held outdoors under an apple tree, a pig came wandering past the ceremony. In the field next door stood llamas and horses watching. Jenny was nervous before the ceremony, and she told me afterward that it was precisely the animals that helped her. She could look at them instead of looking at all the guests.

After the ceremony there were hugs, beer and conversation in the summer evening. The couple and some close friends eventually settled into a sofa group a little away from everything else going on. I was quickly down there with the camera. Moments like that don't wait for the photographer. Those are some of the images I'm happiest with from the day.

The rest of the evening was as a good barn party should be: dinner, speeches, dancing, fairy lights in the ceiling and Jägermeister. The kind of wedding you remember without having to think twice.
