The heart-shaped glasses were everywhere. On the groom and best man, on the grandmother, on the guests in line to enter the church, on people at the dinner table late into the evening. Sidney and Torstein had ordered them for everyone, and everyone wore them.
Sidney got ready alone with good light and little stress. Torstein and the best man lined up outside with bubble machines and took the wedding preparations their own way.
The ceremony was calm and lovely. Out in the sun afterward the couple toasted to the guests while bubbles flew in every direction. It's one of those images where everything comes together: perspective, light, atmosphere.
We took the portraits in the garden afterward. It was golden autumn light and room to move. Torstein lifted Sidney, and that became the image you remember from that afternoon.
During dinner the tears came. Sidney calmly wiped them away while someone gave a speech. Moments like that aren't planned, and they don't need to be.
Late in the evening Sidney changed into a white mini dress. On the dance floor she was lifted into the air. Outside, in front of the white villa, she was lifted again, this time by her friends.
